SALTLIK holds down its corner of Stephen Avenue with certified Angus beef, a bar that runs hot after office hours and a patio parked right on the pedestrian mall \u2014 the best people-watching seat in the core.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Concept\"><\/span>The Concept<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>SALTLIK pitches itself as the rare steakhouse that skips the stuffiness. The sirloins are Certified Angus Beef \u2014 a grade that covers only the top slice of North American cattle \u2014 and the kitchen treats the rest of the menu as more than an afterthought: wood-fired starters, house-made pasta, coastal seafood. Sister to the Banff original, the Calgary room borrows a little mountain-lodge warmth and dresses it in downtown black.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_to_Order\"><\/span>What to Order<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The calamari with garlic chili and charred lemon has a legitimate claim to the city&#8217;s best. Follow with a CAB sirloin or the braised short rib, which slides off the fork after hours in the oven. Buttermilk biscuits land warm, the smoked trout with chives and chips makes a sharp starter, and the seasonal desserts reward saving room. The bar mixes proper cocktails and pours Alberta-friendly reds.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Space\"><\/span>The Space<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Big, dark and handsome: black leather booths, warm timber, western touches that nod to ranch country without costume-party kitsch.
